Stanley Cottage is our house in Hamilton, Ontario (we can’t seem to stop naming our houses, not that I am ever moving again). We have approximately a thousand square feet of vegetable, herb and fruit gardens in the back yard. 2013 is the second year of this garden – we moved into the house in the summer of 2011 and converted a large amount of lawn to raised beds (still more to do over the next several years). More than 75% of the plants were grown from seed. Largely an experiment to see how much food we can successfully grow, eat or store.

In essence we have created this blog/website in order to subject our family and friends less garden #gardenporn photos on Facebook.

We look forward to sharing our food and garden love while enjoying yours. :)

Your garden is lovely. I am connected with Blooms for Africa garden tour and our tour for 2014 is in the Kirkendall area – west of Queen and East of Locke. Are you, by any chance in this area and would you be interested in being part of our garden tour.

It’s awesome how you name your houses.Stanley Cottage sounds like such a nice homey place. I’ve always wanted to name my house–but never seemed to come up with a name that fit.

    • Thanks Sheryl… We enjoy it! It took a while to come up with this one as we had already used manor, hall, acres and mews before and the ‘rule’ is no repeats. :) I like your blog it’s a wonderful idea to share that. Erinn
